Higgins Greenway Phase IV | Cary, NC

Exult Engineering completed a feasibility study and preliminary concept plan for Higgins Greenway Phase IV (BL-0091) through the Town of Cary Transportation Engineering On-call program. We have now finalized the 100% plans, which will be funded by federal LAPP program funds, with construction starting in January 2025.

This phase spans approximately 0.3 miles along Kildaire Farm Road, connecting Shirley Drive to Walnut Street. It includes a 12-foot-wide street-side trail and required the relocation of 1,000 linear feet of curb, gutter, and storm drainage to preserve irreplaceable mature oak trees.

Higgins Greenway Phase IV will enhance connectivity for multiple downtown neighborhoods, providing access to important civic locations such as Cary Elementary School, Downtown Cary Park, the Cary Arts Center, and the Cary Regional Library. Exult coordinated with other Town projects and representatives from the Wake County School Board to align project goals and determine the best trail alignment.
